Opinions on Halloween in Poland are divided. There are many supporters and opponents... Whether we like it or not, it's a pop culture element that has taken our society by storm. No one is forcing anyone to celebrate the scariest night of the year... but if you're planning to, we're here to suggest some great Halloween party ideas!
For us, Halloween is the same holiday as St. Andrew's Day :) That's why for several years now we've been organizing something that raises the adrenaline, gives you chills, provides a lot of fun, entertainment, and allows for unusual team-building, but more on that in a moment...
We know that if you're reading this, you're no stranger to Halloween, and we can assume that you've already pulled seeds out of a cute pumpkin to create a beautiful decorative lantern!
Exactly, because for most people in Poland, Halloween is another opportunity to meet with friends, acquaintances or family and spend time together 🙂
Below are some standard and unusual Halloween ideas (and our experiences!)
Walking the streets and scaring people
Risky. It's becoming more and more common for parents with children or young people to go out on their local trails in interesting costumes, knock on neighbors' doors and, with a smile on their faces, shout "Trick or Treat."
Well, I guess everyone knows that this is how it is in America.
After all, in Poland, not everyone will always answer the door, not everyone has candy ready, and sometimes young people take the phrase "trick" too literally, throwing eggs at doors and smearing ketchup on mailboxes, even if you're not home... (true story!). So if you're thinking about a fun Halloween activity for your child, make sure your neighbors are open to it!
Halloween Themed Parties
Groups of friends and acquaintances often organize themed parties where everyone invited has to dress up in some scary costume. Skeleton or rotting bride costumes are now standard. Anyone who's been celebrating this way for a few years knows that it's increasingly difficult to stick to typical Halloween costumes. Our friends came up with a Halloween party themed OLD AGE! They included wrinkles, gray wigs, granny sweaters, flat caps, walking sticks, and a pipe. Now that's a great idea!
No matter how you look at it, the prospect of old age is quite terrifying for young people!
In a sporty way
If you're an active person, you'll definitely love the idea of a run or race where a cool Halloween costume is a must, and organizers reward the most creative ones! These runs are held all over Poland, so if you're tired of sipping beer, eating chips, and watching horror movies on the couch with friends, get involved – the atmosphere is incredible! Especially when the start is scheduled for after dark, but despite the scary costumes, everyone is full of positive energy and beaming smiles!
Mysteriously
LAST BUT NOT LEAST: (back to the beginning – check out the first paragraph!), the most unusual way to celebrate Halloween: a combination of a haunted house and an escape room! (We call it escape the building).
Every year, at the turn of October and November, we organize a BIG escape room in the Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis, filled with ghosts, monsters, and strange creatures! Our main goal is to give everyone a good scare, but also provide unforgettable entertainment!
What is it really about: we let groups of daredevils into the scariest building we can find, we give them a specific challenge, add some puzzles, codes, lots of scares, and people experience (or not ;)) something that will stay in their memory for a long time.
Ultimately, you always have to leave the building, but in what mental and physical state is a mystery!
