Piłsudski's bushy mustache, Kasztanek's, the Polish brand, and words used in the past that have taken on a completely different meaning today. What connects these things? City game on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of independence! All these elements were the main themes of the tasks during the event in Trzebinia!
Highly motivated, energetic, eager for historical knowledge, competition, and great fun, the residents of Trzebinia embarked on their journey through time on May 12, 2018! We set participants many challenging and intricate tasks that required physical fitness, logical thinking, cunning, and spatial awareness. Some tasks also required considerable knowledge of our country's history!
Tasks
Families with children, couples, friends, and acquaintances explored the city (by bike or on foot) to find hidden puzzles and riddles. Their tasks included matching the meanings of historically used words to their current meanings, and chronologically arranging Polish currency since 1919!
Participants had a lot of fun with the sabotage task, which required Marshal Piłsudski to hide from foreign intelligence agents! As part of the task, they had to convince non-player players to briefly assume the role of Marshal Piłsudski (wearing distinctive attributes like a mustache or Maciejówka hat). He, transported to the present day and keeping up with the times, agreed to take a selfie with them. 😊
Our participants also had the opportunity to listen to Marshal Piłsudski's speech, which included contemporary expressions that were crucial for solving the mystery, but sounded deceptively similar to the original...
During the game, you could also acquire various new skills – especially for the residents of Trzebinia, we organised shooting training, during which they took on the role of soldiers of the Polish Legions, and recruit training, which involved completing a military obstacle course under the watchful and stern eye of a Sergeant!
There's no better way to experience the atmosphere of a given historical period than… singing songs from the past together! Yes, yes! One of our game's stops included the Patriotic and Soldier Song Festival! We can confidently say that the participants mastered this task with flying colors! 😊
A truly historic task was assembling a puzzle – a map of Galicia from the beginning of the century, which brought our cartographers some difficulties but also a lot of satisfaction!
Participants also faced a number of special tasks, such as obtaining a newspaper published on November 12, 1918! Our players also had to decipher secret codes and ciphers.
In this way, sunny May Trzebinia was transformed for a day into a historic time machine, thanks to which you could feel not only the spirit of competition but also the spirit of bygone days, and after all, that's what celebrating the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence is all about!
