What are the best ecological tricks to use in the fight against smog? Participants in the city game Mission Smog Off, which Cudotwornia had the pleasure of implementing for the Public Transport Authority (ZTM) in Warsaw from September 16th to September 22nd, 2017, know this best.
This event was unique for several reasons. For the first time, we had the opportunity to implement a city game lasting not just one day, but seven! Moreover, it conveyed an incredibly important message. It not only promoted using public transport and eco-friendly modes of transportation, but also included an educational component on reducing air pollution and caring for the environment.
Incredibly motivated and persistent teams, undaunted by rain, wind, and cold, pursued their mission with great dedication throughout the week, overcoming the logical and skill-based challenges presented to them. For example, creating a water filter from readily available materials (such as sand, stones, gravel, or charcoal) or sewing an anti-smog mask themselves were significant challenges. One of the challenges for the participants was to grow the tallest possible anti-smog cress within a week of the event! This brought our teams much joy and provided an opportunity to try out various (sometimes very unusual) planting techniques. All the points visited by our participants during the week of the competition were located in locations inspired by the green map of Warsaw.
In addition to fieldwork, participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of transport and ecology by answering daily questions online. Here, not only knowledge and brilliance counted, but also the speed of response.
The week-long competition between teams culminated in the grand finale, which took place on Car Free Day (Friday, September 22.09nd) near the Młociny metro station. On this day, participants not only had to complete a series of tasks located throughout the city, but also, in a race against time, choose the most optimal means of transportation. There was plenty to compete for, as the fastest and most accurate finishers, in addition to eternal glory and unbridled joy, also received attractive and valuable prizes, including vouchers for prezentmarzeń.pl. At the finish line, there was also a grand measuring ceremony for the rapidly growing cress!
